Some people don't have any emotional discipline, so what they are really thinking comes out in what they are saying in a passive way. They don't want you to know what they are really thinking so at that point they say stuff like that's not what I meant. These people will drive you nuts, the way to deal with this type of person is to answer questions with more question, normally they will slip over them selves and spill the truth about what they are thinking.

Sometimes it might be that they just don't know how to word what they are saying. I know I have that problem sometimes. Although, sometimes something is said which is perfectly appropriate but the person it is being said to just takes it the wrong way. I have that problem with my other half too, I can say something perfectly normal and he'll take it as an insult but then he will say exactly what I said and then he''l be all like "well I didn't know you meant that"

I mean if you know they meant something good instead, then why bother to ask, unless you let it bother you all your-life and that's fine with me or anybody else though. live happy.
