Often, the invitation will state the theme of the shower: lingerie, gag, etc.
But, you can never go wrong with something that will provide solace and comfort to the bride. (Getting married is wonderful, but the run-up to the wedding could give high blood pressure to anyone.)
I suggest lingerie, bath oils, massage oils, a day at the spa coupon, a nice robe, luggage for the honeymoon ...

Maybe some sexy perfume or a bath set from Victoria's Secret, or Frederick's of Hollywood...or maybe, a pretty lacy nightie. It depends on how well you know the bride. Or a fun thing to do would be to make a basket with condoms, lube, massage oil, "toys" and etc. Be creative with it.

A good dog training book.
I know, it sounds totally lame and maybe a little unethical, if not downright weird, but if a woman approaches it with an open mind she will save much of the grief of conflicts in the first five years of marriage. Maybe even help her beat the divorce statistics!
Animal training books have some damn fine techniques for adjusting behavior in a creature by the controlled reactions of the trainer. For example: Nagging and whining will never get your dog trained, neither will it help in dealing with a man's annoying habits! It actually reinforces resistance to change in both of the adorable beasts! And eventually encourages repetition of annoying behavior (horrors!) as a means of getting attention, since any attention is better than none.
Instead, you learn to reinforce and praise positive behavior in ways that are not only effective, but appreciated... No more confusing mixed signals that drive men over the edge of reason!
You end up training yourself first, then applying what you have learned to interactions with others. It works in the office, with friends and children as well as the spouse. It teaches you to give clear, precise instructions and how to reward the one instructed (or requested in the case of another adult human being) for wanting to please you. This sets up a win/win situation that cannot help but make life with others easier!!
Too many men are offended by the thought of "A DOG Training Book!?!", never realizing that because women and men think so differently we really Need some guidelines to help us communicate effectively.
Which brings up "Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus"... another book that should be included in every bride's basket of goodies!
Heck, both of these will enhance any relationship, brand new or one celebrating their 20th anniversary, if used properly! At the age of 45 and in my third attempt at something lasting I was introduced to both of these by a friend... It is going on 7 years now and what my love and I have just seems to keep getting stronger and better with time! Proof enough for me to take the heat of recommending this to every young woman and even some men! lol

Depends on how personal you know the bride. If you know her very well than you can get her a little basket of naughty lingerie, and, or games her and her husband can enjoy together.
Or if you are not that close to her you can get her perhaps a spa package or a basket with spa products. A basket of wines that she & her husband would like.

I just had a shower this weekend and one of the most memorable gifts was a throw pillow for my bed with my fiance & my name and our wedding date embroidered on it.

I would get her stress reliving oils, candles, massage tools, etc. Or a personal massage for the morning of her wedding! I got one when I got married, and it was SUCH a treat!
