the answer is YES YES YES... what you need to do is get the creamy peanut butter... preferably oily as possible.... put a generous amount of peanut butter around the area where the gum is on and around.... and let it sit a bit for the peanut oils to get into the gum.. and comb out.. voila .. after a little work.. all the gum is out.

trish

I've never tried, but I wouldn't be surprised if it did.

The actual reason would have to do with the way the molecules line up. Polar vs non-polar, very similar to how soap washes out greases, oils, fats and some stains while water doesn't. So if water doesn't get gum out of hair, try grease, oil, and fat (aka peanut butter! It _does_ make sense!).

OK, so I answered my own question in answering yours. Yeah, go for the peanut butter!

Seriously, you are a LOT better off getting a bottle of Goo Gone. Peanut butter works, but you are still likely to break off a lot of the hair and it's really hard to use. Just get a bottle of Goo Gone. You can get it at almost any arts and crafts store or any Wal-Mart.

Yes, but any kind of oil (cooking oil, I mean) will do in a pinch. I've had to get gum out of hair many times. You have to work at it, but it will take it out. Then you'll have to shampoo because your hair will be greasy.

It's actually the peanut oil. It aides in the removal by saturating the hair, causing it to become slippery.
