It seems to happen constantly. Prayer in schools, ten comandments in courtrooms, Prez. Bush saying he's on a mission from God, even trying to convince us that America was founded by Chritsians. If the founding fathers were like todays Christians, seperation of church and state never would have even come up in the drafting of the Constitution, but it's there.

The politicians will go with whatever religion, etc. will get them votes, and yes the people fall for it each time. Those christian politicians can't understand big words like separation (they are christian remember). Some say freedom of religion lets them have the 10 commandments in court, well then lets see the pillars of Islam, etc. and the flying spaghetti monsters pic there too.

The church is not RUNNING the state, and the state isn't running the church. They are two seperate entities. The state would be better off if it were run by godly men. All of humanity would do better if the Ten Commandments were observed, and many of the Ten Commandments have been made laws. Prayer in schools is an example of freedom of religion. A teacher cannot force a student to pray, but a teacher cannot keep a student from praying. The Bible, the Word of God, says Christians should pray constantly... at school, work, home, in the car, EVERYWHERE.
Also, the Pilgrims aboard the Mayflower were Puritans (an extrememly conservative denomination of Christianity.)

If you look into the Bill of Rights it doesn't mention Seperation of Church and State. The idea that liberals have placed on Seperation of Church and State is that the government should prevent public displays of religion. In fact, their intention was to keep government completely out of the religous arena altogether.

Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

Our country was founded on Christianity:

John Hancock and John Adams:
We Recognize No Sovereign but God, and no King but Jesus! [April 18, 1775]

John Adams:
“ The general principles upon which the Fathers achieved independence were the general principals of Christianity… I will avow that I believed and now believe that those general principles of Christianity are as eternal and immutable as the existence and attributes of God.”
• “[July 4th] ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty.”
–John Adams in a letter written to Abigail on the day the Declaration was approved by Congress

Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other." --October 11, 1798- John Adams

"the excellency of the Christian religion above all others, ancient or modern." - Ben Franklin

"For my own part, I sincerely esteem it [the Constitution] a system which without the finger of God, never could have been suggested and agreed upon by such a diversity of interests." [1787 after the Constitutional Convention]
"I have carefully examined the evidences of the Christian religion, and if I was sitting as a juror upon its authenticity I would unhesitatingly give my verdict in its favor. I can prove its truth as clearly as any proposition ever submitted to the mind of man."- Alexander Hamilton

"I am a real Christian, that is to say, a disciple of the doctrines of Jesus." - Thomas Jefferson

“We have staked the whole future of American civilization, not upon the power of government, far from it. We’ve staked the future of all our political institutions upon our capacity…to sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments of God.” [1778 to the General Assembly of the State of Virginia- James Madison

Our foundation is Christianity! And we as Christians will stand upon that forever!

Christians' minds are closed to anything that is not in the Bible. Separation of Church and State, is the wisest provision of the Constitution. Just take a look at a U.N. study about religion in Argentina http://www.hri.ca/fortherecord2002/documentation/commission/e-cn4-2002-73-add1.htm

No such thing.

Thomas Jefferson used the phrase in a letter to some Baptists.

It's not in the Constitution.

It's only used by groups like ACLU and others to deceive people.

Are you that easily deceived?

It's the biggest lie being promoted to the public and now many believe a LIE !!!.

Do some research of your own and discover the truth. There are many documents that one can access and read for themselves.

Or be DECEIVED by propaganda of groups with an agenda other than TRUTH.

our founding fathers were Christian and I think they would be shocked that prayer is not allowed in schools, etc. Separation of church and state came about because the first settlers were Separatist, Puritans, Quakers, Shakers, etc. All of these groups escaped persecution because they worshipped in a different manner, etc. When it came time to set up a new gov't, they wanted to insure that this type of persecution would not come about again. They all believed in the Christian God.

Well the thing is that Conservatives have a lust for power over others and will use religion to influence relegious fanatics, and greed to try to influence others. Their reality is a sad and scarey one, they prey on weak minds and will do anything to gain power. Just look at how the last two presidential campains went, and how the elections real results were manipulated to ensure "victory".

The truth is that people who crave power will do anything to achieve it, apeal to religion or greed, and "fix" an election or two if all else fails.

In a way, it was religion that brought citizens to this great country. I dont like to stay on one side for the sake of debate but instead looking at the other side as well.
In the world that we are living in filled with violence, prejudice, war, poverty, sickness, terrorism and a disregard to human life, some people find religion comforting, even in the way of government.

Because Christians want power over everyone and everything. They have been that way for centuries but here in the USA we have been able to hold them in check. People don't realize how important it is not to let them get their way or we will be up like Afghanistan under the Taliban. I'm not being paranoid I'm being realistic.
