Why must people feel the need to label? Wouldn't it be more spiritually greater to explore all religions, then combine everything in which you believe in, and reject what you do not agree with, then be spiritually fulfilled? Everyone is different, and so is their beliefs, we should create our own right?

Unfortunately it's human nature to label/define. The world would be a better place if people would stop defining themselves by their religion and just be defined by who they are. Of course your Zealots out there would say I am my religion or my religious belief is who I am...What a crock of bleep!!! Man created the idea of God(s) (if there are any or is one) and along with that came religion on how to belive in same. Strongly urge all people to explore and learn from the exploration. Also urge you to go to the following link for more on your spiritual journey...

People need to be label, to fit in.
Most people feel the need to belong to a Building or a group of People.

For the last 30 years I have study different religion. I combine everything in which I believe in and I have rejected what I do not agree with or believe in. Spiritually my life is fulfilled.

It's easier when conversing about a certain aspect of spirituality to use a label. I wouldn't discuss re-incarnation with a Christian, as Christianity denies such things. But I understand what you mean, and agree in a general sort of way. In order to be fulfilled, you would have to look at everything and not just assume that what you have is the whole picture.

I use labels when I try to relate to others. If I did not want to relate to anyone else, I would not use them. It is much easier to say one word than to go through a lengthy description every time I wanted to describe some thing.

I think that everyone picks and chooses what they believe to some extent. Some people prefer a more independent approach to this (like yourself) and some prefer to have more structure and belong to a group of like-minded people. I don't think that either way is "best" for everyone. People just seem to gravitate to paths that fulfill their own individual needs.

Yes, you sound like a Unitarian Universalist; they believe in doing what you describe. So you can call yourself anything you want. You don't have to use a label if it doesn't fit. Designing your own belief system is the best way. Be sure to keep it flexible.

What?

That's too much work. I've got too many more important things to do then to be spiritually aware. I mean I've only watched Baywatch Collection I on DVD a half a dozen times. I haven't memorize more then 60% of the dialog yet. Shheeeesh.

I'm Roman Catholic - what that means to me is that I adhere to the doctrines and magisteriums of the Roman Catholic Faith. It means I'm a Christian and believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. It means I believe I must repent and serve penance for my sins. It means I believe in the seven sacraments - Baptism, Confirmaton, Eucharist, Penance & Reconciliation, Anointing of the Sick, Holy Orders, and Matrimony. And that's just the beginning...

For short - why don't I just say that I'm Roman Catholic.

PS: I have explored the other religions and Christian denominations. Doing the will of God, means you bend to His will, you don't pick and choose the stuff you like then discard the rest and make Him serve you - it doesn't work that way.

PPS: Because it's not about you, it's all about Him.

Because people like to conform and also fit in somewhere and if it means labelling themselves, so be it. To some extent, people like to be a part of something bigger, and so they're willing to put weird attachments (names) on themselves.
