If you work on a Federal Holiday (4th of July, for example) at a job that pays hourly, is the employer obligated to pay the employees more for working that day or does it vary state by state? And where can I find the laws regarding the state of Ohio?

Here is what i learned about companies. There is no law that states they have to offer medical, dental, 401k, or any benefits. Companies only do so to be competitive with other companies when it comes to hiring.

I was really shocked when I learned that. Since these items are not a law, then I don't know how paying overtime could be a law. It may be a companies policy to do these things, but I don't think there is a law.

It depends on the employer and if you're in a union or not.

The customary practice is to pay time and a half, but that isn't always the case. I've seen some places pay triple time and others pay regular pay and give you a day off at another time.

Depends. Usually they are obligated to pay you at least doublr time! I think it is a federal law!

i think holiday pays are an elective incentive from employers, like giving paid healthcare. employers are not obligated to give but choose to.

you would get paid!maybe on the company you work for,if your talking about the reason u asked the question
