My fiance' does all of the work of an IT (LOTS of programming and computer stuff), but since he started as a PN, he didn't get a chance to become an IT per se. He's said that there is a big need for IT's in the navy though, and because there is such a need, they do get paid well. You can do SO MUCH with that kind of job experience too, and most computer jobs (depending on what you want to do) start you off well when you get out of the navy. He will be making about $90,000 to $100,000 a year because of everything he's learned in the navy, and because of the computer certificates he's gotten, and he doesn't have a degree, just the experience and the right certificates.

you can go into computer programming, computer maintanance, etc. basically anything that has to do with computers. because the economy is becoming more reliant on computers and other types of technology this job field is wide and has many different career paths available.
for instance --- you can work as an IT for a college or school district and work with the equipment used there
the pay actually fluctuates depending on the job that you apply for. most IT's start between 23-45000 a year
