Once a week is way too often to bathe him. Its harder for dogs to produce oil on the skin so all the bathing dries him up. Use some conditioner on him (no shampoo) and don't rinse it all the way out that'll help him get some of the oil back in his skin.

I have an old school remedy for dry skin. I had a lab mix growing up with flaky dry skin. It was suggested we put a raw egg in her dry food daily. If you use pasteurized eggs there is no chance of salmonella. Well, after about a week we started noticing a gleam to her fur. In about a month the flakes were gone. It's worth trying instead of wasting $ on creams and bath products that are hit or miss. Good Luck!

Flea shampoo is VERY drying. It's designed to be that way.

If you insist on bathing twice a week, cut the flea shampoo down to maybe once a month, and use a moisturizing shampoo the rest of the times.

stop giving him baths 2 times a week they only need about 1 a month. also pit bulls have skin problems. you can put cream on it. you can get the cream from the vet. but sometimes it doesn't go away. i have 2 pit bulls who both have skin problems. one is loosing hair and the other one has a rash on his tummy. but it normal for that type of breed. i hope this helps.

Dogs should not be bathed so often. It does tend to dry out their skin. They need the natural oils that the bath washes out.

Bathe them as little possible, or only when they really need it, and then use a good quality dog shampoo.

Use a shampoo with oat meal in it and don't wash him so often. That will dry him out. There are also vitamins that you can get at any store that sells pet products. Look for a vitamin that says "skin and coat" or something like that.

I also have a pit bull and have had these problems also.....

You are bathing him way too much. Once a month is just fine. And as for the flea medicine, are you doing it by what the directions say?

You are supposed to only give him a bath once every 6 months, you are bathing him too frequently and drying out his poor skin....

Only give him a bath every month or two and the flea medicine should only be put on ever month.
