depending on your hair type, you should use different things to keep it up. i have thick and curly hair, so i use hair elastics without those metal things. you first put your hair up into a high ponytail and sucure it with an elastic. then you take the hair and twist it and wrap it around the first elastic. then with the 2nd elastic sucure the bun in place. to have messy look, with your fingers, scrunch the bun and pull out a few strands. ...but other than elastics, you can use, rubber bands, clips, pens and pencils, hair sticks, jaw clips, or those fancy bun holders that are in the shape of a circle that surround your bun completely. check out your local hair and beauty story for more options, and talk with the sailsperson or talk with your hair dresser.

good luck

Bobby pins or chopsticks work well. Take your hair, twist it around wherever on your head you want the bun to be, and bobby pin it to your head or run chopsticks through it for a trendy twist to an old style!!

Nothing, if it is long enough. Otherwise, a pen or two might do the trick!
