Hi, I don't know of any specif comercial program..as you said they all pretty much rely on lean meats ect..
I am a vegetarian and have gone through the search as well. I managed to lose 25 lbs on my own just counting calories and fat of the food I normally eat. I used www.nutrawatch.com which is a free site that keeps track of your daily intakes and your weight (VERY HELPFUL!) I added in light weight training that I did at home (10 mins a day TOPS!!)..I have 2 kids so I have NO time for anything. That pushed me in the right direction to toning up and dropping the weight it took me 3 months to lose the 25 lbs and I am now just maintaining it...It has been a year this as of this week!! The main thing you have to figure out is you personal daily intake goals...you take the weight you WANT to be (be realistic) and multiply by 10 then add that same weight to that number...It will give you you daily calories...stick to it and you WILL lose the weight! if you want to know more about what I did you can read about it here.... http://www.personalfitnesszone.com/content/view/207/50/
Hope I could be of help to you in some way..I know what a pain it it to want to lose!!!

I agree with Jolene's response. Most of the Atkins / high protein diets do work, in the short run, but in the long run, they tend to be unmanageable and non-vegetarian friendly. I just can't imagine doing Atkins for the rest of my life.
The bottom line is that you have to manage your calorie intake. Get active and remain active. Find an activity that interests you and do it. So long as you elevate your heart rate and you break a sweat, you are likely getting a good workout.
I use the site http://www.fitday.com to monitor my calories. It also will track your activities. It's free as well. Try to consume 500 calories less per day than you burn for a steady weight loss. If you like a steady regimine, you may want to look into Weight Watchers. They are a good group and it's fairly cost effective. Many of my friends have had very good luck with them.
Good for you on being vegetarian, but don't be fooled that the health food you are eating is low-calories. I fell for that trap long ago (luckily I am extremely active and food doesn't stick to me). However, you really need to be a label reader (I know I am). Those fat-free cookies are not easy on your waistline. So educate yourself and learn to read those food labels.
Good luck.

I recently met a gal who lost 65 lbs in 4 months, eating all raw fruits, vegetable & nuts. The key is RAW foods.
Even if you add in 15% cooked whole grains, you will still lose.
I plan to do the same, starting next week.
This is also an excellent way to detoxify your body, so you are much less likely to regain the weight.

Anyone interested in losing weight should understand their current health. A physician can do a thorough evaluation that includes a comprehensive blood panel, weight and body fat analysis, waist circumference, and a detailed review of your medical and health history. This evaluation is a key component of any weight loss program as it will not only provide details on your current health, but provide a point from which you can measure your success.
