I've found that the rudest people in the United States are not from NY, but from CA.
I will admit that most New Yorkers are very direct, blunt, and to the point, and many people confuse their blunt way of communicating as rude, but I'd rather deal with New Yorkers all day long as opposed to Californians

From a southerner's point of view, some of them proudly live up to the sterotype of being rude, crass and obnoxious, unfortunately. (Just like most DC-government employees.)However, I've found that many New Yorkers are quite helpful and friendly. I think it's the accent that makes them sound sooooo hard. Especially on a woman. But when you run into those rough ones...woo! Watch out! They want your blood for asking directions!

Nothing is wrong with the people in New York. When I visited the city New Yorkers were friendly and helpful.

Hmmm... NY is a pretty big state. So let's name all the things that could possbily be wrong with people who live there.
Sick? Depressed? Bad drivers? Aliens in disguise? Toting around an extra butt? etc etc etc...

There is nothing wrong with anyone who is in a different place than you are. They may have different ways of handling things, but it doesn't mean that you need to hate them or say everything they do is wrong.
