Give her something to do she is bored! Walk her and make her work. Make her tired as soon as she feels like she is doing something useful she will calm down. When I say walk her I mean make her mind, give her a backpack and make her carry it.Walk her at night before bed and don't let her bark at anything while she is walking. A sharp tug on the leash and firm command should do the trick. Then when you get home love her up. Also you could try crating her at night and putting a towel or blanket over the crate so she has nothing to see and bark at. If you make her tired an remove the source of disturbance then she should calm down. Good luck and hope this helps!

It is likely the food as mentioned above. Try spending some time running outsede with her. It will be good excercise for both of you. Also, scold her when she barks at something that you don't want her barking at (the light tap on the tip of the nose is a good way to teach her). You don't want her to never bark (what if someone breaks into the house...you want her to bark then), but if it is something frivilous show her right away. Dogs are smart and they will learn what to bark at and when it is okay.

Really, excercise is going to make the biggest difference. You can try crate training her too. It will give her a sense that she is protected and she wont be as nervous or jumpy.

Good luck!

EXERCIZE! The pacing , the barking and general restlessness is a sign of stress. Bach flower or dap might help a bit to help take the edge off and if she does not have a crate I would probably introduce one... it will give her a "safe place". Kongs are great stress relievers too!

Chamomile tea works very well, and is safe for her. Dump it out of the teabag, and use 1 teaspoon for small breed, up to 1 tablespoon for a large breed. Mix it in a little canned food, such as Mighty Dog, or Cesar's, and give about 30 minutes before she needs to relax. It will keep her happy, but reduce stress. It can be given as needed.

If your grocer doesn't carry chamomlile, you can use 'Sleepytime Tea' as it is the same, but with added herbs. Plain chamomile tastes better to a dog.

Get her spayed - she'll calm down dramatically.

Also, get her out for more exercise - tire her out good before nightfall, throw a ball or frisbee around the yard for a good while.

You can also buy a crate - put her in there at night and cover it with towels or a sheet.

Crate train her. Put her in there at night. She will feel more secure and safe and won't feel like she needs to bark to keep whatever it is she is afraid of away. If I leave my dog out of her crate she'll bark and whine all night long. She likes to sleep in her crate, it makes her feel safe.

bach flower is what i give my dog. its natural and works great!!! you can find it online. one drop on the tongue and they de-esculate from stress levels. she may also be feeling overwhelmed by being alone at night try giving the drop and keep her close to you at night until the problem resolves. she also needs to learn that she doesnt need to work so hard for you and that you are her leader so to speak and that you know whats best not her. try bark busters as well theyre great and all over the country!!

Exercise! Make sure she's getting at least a thirty minute run every day - a lot of pacing, anxiety and destructive chewing comes from pent up enery and boredom.

dogs are hyper because of the food you feed them.. dog food has lots of energizers in it so if you're not exersizing the dog properly, chances are that she isn't using that stored energy and is up all night barking it all away..

another suggestion is to smack your dog lightly on the tip of the nose but with enough force to let her know who's boss.. remember, with pets tough love is the best love as they are easily spoiled..
