Most Americans cood care less about what happens to any countries in the middle east. The jewish contingent which is less than 10% of our population is a very rich and powerful segment of the USA. Their credo after world war 2 was to educate themselves out of being persecuted so therefore u find them in all key positions throughtout most of the major industries. Thats why we give a hoot about the middle east --its all about Israel-and the average American cood care less about Israel in fact the country and its people have been nothin but a gigantic problem to us since we rescue them from Hitler. What u see The US policy doing is dictated by the Jews in the US not the other 90% of our population. We have enough problems over here that we need to solve before we stick our noses in other peoples business.

Yup, Americans are ignorant about Palestine & Iraq because Americans are ignorant about lots of things.
I'm glad Muslems are never ignorant, however. Not allowing women to drive, or get an education is so very enlightened! Forcing them to wear those veils is very open-minded. Rock on!

What "truth" are you asking about?

I've heard it said that the truth is nothing but a lie that hasn't been found out.
And if people are told something long enough, it eventually becomes "truth".

I suspect you are victim of this kind of deception and distortion of the truth.
You must educate yourself beyond the hopeless hate that your leaders, family and friends tell you.

Go to the link and learn how the news media distorts the truth.

Remember my friend, perception is greater than reality.

I think the question is asking...Why are Americans ignorant about the truth, in regards to Palestine and Iraq?

As for my answer, I think it has to do with the fact that there really isn't a way for us to know EXACTLY what is going on there (or the "truth") without actually traveling to those places. The media always skews things, so we never really get a clear and accurate picture. As for traveling, I highly doubt that an American would be willing to dish out $2-3,000 to take a trip to Iraq. We are stressed out as it is...why would we want to add to it? I guarantee you that, with vacation time, 98-99% of Americans would prefer to take a cruise or go on a relaxing vacation to get their mind off of things.

And, on a more personal note, where do you come off saying that Americans are "ignorant" about these issues. I find that offensive considering I have family stationed in Iraq right now, risking their lives to liberate the country. Not to mention, I know many friends and family that are keeping up with the news, as well. There are MANY Americans that keep up with the news and what is going on outside of our country. So please do not generalize that ALL Americans are ignorant about these issues.

And second, America is one of the most commonly criticized countries in today's modern world. We're arrogant, we're too fat, we're too thin, we're too rich... Everyone always finds a way to attack us, and you can't please everyone. Honestly, I am so sick of hearing other countries complain about us that I don't even care anymore. And if foreigners bash us all the time, why would we want to take the time to learn about them and their country? Americans are sick of trying to please the whole world, and many of us just don't even care at this point. We already have enough to worry about in our own personal, daily lives.

But, as I said earlier, there are still many of us who are interested in life outside of America, regardless of the rudeness of other countries. Generalizations can be dangerous, especially in times like these...

God Bless our Troops!

Because Americans (citizens of U.S.) are listening and watching the wrong information. Why don't they try the B.B.C. or The C.B.C. Buying periodicals from other western countries would be of a great help in trying to understand what is really going on.

The truth?
Here is a fact: One side uses terrorism, suicide bombers, etc.
One side doesn't.
One side recognizes the other, One side does not.
This is all fact. Is this the truth? YES. You cannot argue with fact.
This is why the Palestine's will never have their own state.
