I just finished that book, but I am still confused about the whole pope choosing part. Can someone explain it to me?

Check out this link. It was an article that was posted after Pope John Paul II died. It explains the selection process:

What I understand is the cardinals are locked in the Sistine Chapel (conclave) and they don't come out until they have successfully voted for the next Pope (using ballots). I think they signal the end of the election with smoke. Also, there are requirements for being a Pope, and it seems the cardinals already have an idea who the candidates are.

Sorry, it's been weeks (or maybe even months) since I've read Angels and Demons. I'm not very good at remembering details. Hope this helps. Have a great day!

My only gripe about choosing for the pope is that they say they are lead by the Holy Spirit, but time after time they have had to revote and revote until a majority had chosen. If the Holy Spirit is in controle then there wouldnt be any mistakes, it would be chosen first time by everybody. They have even chosen a woman one time by MISTAKE. And most of the popes that were chosen by the Holy Spirit have been the most corrupt, adulterous, murdering, pedifiles, this world has ever known.
