I shave my head. I really only use a #1. For some reason, I always end up with some ingrown hairs on the back of my head. Is there a way to prevent these?

Cutting your hair opens the pores, and if you dont clean and close them they will close over and cause ingrown hairs.Try exfoliating with an exfoliating shampoo or body wash after you cut your hair, then applying a toner on your head. This will free any loose skin that may trap the hair after you cut.

Shaving too close allows the cut ends of the hair to retract back into the follicles. Then the sharp, cut edge can dig into the upper walls of the follicles and cause irritation. This is more apt to occur in areas where the hair is very curly. Tend Skin is a product that is used to minimize the effects of ingrown hairs.

One thing you can do is (every morning and before you go to bed) place a HOT towel on your head. The hot water makes the growing hairs stand straight up as opposed to curling back into the skin.

Good luck! =^)
