First of all, Christ apparently was silent on the shape of the earth. I don't believe the Gospels ever quote Him as speaking on the subject at all. So, we don't know what His views on that subject were -- if He even had any views on it.
Second, there are LOTS of writings about Jesus that never made it into the Bible.
Third, speaking in human/earthly terms, Jesus did not have a "pertinent position" -- He held no public office, no official title, or anything like that. Speaking in strictly earthly terms, he was a carpenter.
True, He was the Son of God -- but only a relative handful of people knew that while He walked this earth. It was only later that this "pertinent position" became known to most people.

Where are you getting that He did not know?????
The manuscript evidence for the New Testament is also dramatic, with over 5,300 known copies and fragments in the original Greek, nearly 800 of which were copied before 1000 AD. Some manuscript texts date to the early second and third centuries, with the time between the original autographs and our earliest existing copies being a remarkably short 60 years. Interestingly, this manuscript evidence far surpasses the manuscript reliability of other ancient writings that we trust as authentic every day. Look at these comparisons: Julius Caesar's "The Gallic Wars" (10 manuscripts remain, with the earliest one dating to 1,000 years after the original autograph); Pliny the Younger's "History" (7 manuscripts; 750 years elapsed); Thucydides' "History" (8 manuscripts; 1,300 years elapsed); Herodotus' "History" (8 manuscripts; 1,300 years elapsed); Sophocles (193 manuscripts; 1,400 years); Euripides (9 manuscripts; 1,500 years); and Aristotle (49 manuscripts; 1,400 years).

well in Isaiah chapter 40v22 describes the earth as a circle and in Job 26v7 tells that the earth is hung on nothing. and here is more info on circle.

Jesus had no earthly postion, if He had when they arrested Him, His followers would have started a civil war. also in Isaiah chpter 53 describes Him as a man with no comingless ... no beauty that we should desire Him. He was so common that after preaching for 3 years and turning over the tables in the temple, the guards needed Judas to kiss Him to idenitfy Him. just because He did not stand out.
this past week on the Discovery Times channel they had a special on the cross of Jesus. were they had found the board placed above Jesus head. with writtings on the board is three different languages, all dated to the time of Jesus the letters were printed out in a way that ended before the first century was over.

No offense to ne1, but Muslims believe he was a prophet, not God/God's son. We also believe the bible is from God, but over time it got changed. The Quran said stuff over a thousand years ago that has been proven only in the past few years. And to prove I don't hate other religions or atheists, It was only royalty that got written about. he was considered an enemy to the king because he brought the true religion, but Shaytan (the devil/Satan) wanted to misguide ppl, he made them reject him 4 a while, then when his message became popular, the devil changed it to become false. It's happened to most prophets, except Muhammad. u can even compare an original Quran to a Modern Quran in google images. the lines in the modern Quran are only the vowels, they don't change the meaning.

Actually, he did know the world is round, but nobody would have believed him at the time. Besides, that was not the point of his coming here. He came to sacrifice himself for our sins. Most of the locations, and occurances in the New Testament corallate with what we know historically. We know that Ceasar Augustus was in power, Herod was a madman in power, Pontious Pilate, and many others. Historically speaking, the New Testament is very accurate and can be proven due to the wonderful recordkeeping talents of the Roman Empire that was in control at the time.

If you will read the book of Job and Isaiah in the Bible, you will see how much was known about the shape of creation and the nature of the planet and the heavens (things in the sky).
There is not, to my knowledge, any mention of Jesus knowing or not knowing about the shape of the earth in the Bible.
There were no apparent writings about him recorded during his lifetime because He was not considered notable. There were non-Biblical records of His existence written about Him after He left this earth.

No one ever said that he didn't know the world was round, it never came up. It was a middle thing that they didn't know. Most people in Roman times did know it was round.
Lot of other people wrote about Jesus. Some were other follower, observers. The most important was the Jewish historian Josephus Flavius. He wasn't a Christian but he wrote about Jesus and other religous groups at the time. You can find the Complete Works of Josephus on Chapters.

This is so funny. Wanting info outside the Bible. If there was writings about Jesus in existence during his lifetime - then people would be asking for OTHER writings nullifying the existing documents.
Just what do you think the New Testament is? ANCIENT WRITINGS BY WITNESSES AND ABOUT WITNESSES AND FROM WITNESSES.
The mentality of atheists are pretty strange. Strain at a gnat and swallow a camel.

Christ told us what we NEED to know, not all of the wisdom of the world. There is a difference.
Jesus is mentioned in some other texts, but think about which figures in history get written about - the wealthy. It is certainly something to say that so much is written about a man that was born in a manger.

Jesus never said the Earth was flat for one thing... for another thing the Bible said it was round before He came. And trust me there are MUCH bigger questions than the shape of the Earth. And you obviously havent Read Josephus and other contemporaries and historians of the time so really you have no education in the matter and shouldnt post questions like this.
