Religion and Spirituality deals with beliefs and values, and quest for purpose, Mythology and Folklore deals with, at best, wishful thinking... it doesn't claim to be accurate. Whereas, religion is structured and sustained by it's source... mythology is just random... / anybody can fabricate a myth... and people do not necessarily set out beliefs from it/ it's more like playing 'what if'..
Can you turn a myth into a religion??? yeah, sure, if that's what you want to do, but i am going to deal with the general segregation of these...
Perhaps they would like to believe but they already know it's not true.. For example, the myths about pregnancy... we learn them we heat about them, but they directly contradict reality...
Religion brings people into more than just a narration of a story, it organize them , it gives purpose... and reason to live, to fight, to get up in the morning, it should bring hope.... it involves a philosophy/ usually backed up by centuries of practice and research... / and with some correlation into reality ... etc...

Mythology is reserved for the classic thoughts that have been undergone each lifestyle. it quite is folklore and the legends of in the past. that's the thoughts that we do not know authors for or the history at the back of them. All all of us know is they exist and stay studied and instructed. that's the thoughts in Norse, Greek, Roman, Egyptian, and different cultures of that era. they are all polytheistic in nature. there's a key factor in those issues. no person debates those being fact. human beings debate Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, etc as being fact. they are religions based upon a course to peace or eternal life. they are actually not issues explaining widespread occurences like many of the mythological thoughts are. no person remains following the likes of Zeus and Anubis, yet human beings nonetheless and forever will keep on with God.

Mythology and Folklore is created by man.
Religion is man's way to understanding God, but ahhhh
Spirituality!
The one-on-one relationship between you and Jesus;
The presence of His Holy Spirit dwelling inside of you, is pure God, and none other.
Man was created by God to worship -- HIM.
That is why man, who doesn't have the personal relationship with the Father, seeks alternate ways to worship -- there's a tugging within you -- and there you get Mythology, Folklore, etc..

While some can argue that theology is the pivotal concept here, I would say the issue is best understood through the limits of the contrived "taxonomic structure" in use... it's a kind of hierarchical architecture whereas a "network" with "parental" & "child' nodes could well dispell these kinds of concerns. I've seen it work effectively in many instances though the pathways are not always as "cut 'n' dried as those in a hierarchiel arrangement... something lost, something gained, I guess...

Because mythology and folklore are about those things... Dragons, Fairies, Jersey Devil etc.... religion and spirituality are real things, even if you dont follow a religion nor feel spiritual, they are real.

myth and folklore are religions no longer practiced or rarely practiced. it can also include urban legends and old tales like the nine tailed fox, chimeras, dragons, or medusa for example.
frankly christianity is anything but spiritual and the schmucks that say i dont have a religion i have a relationship with Jesus/God belong in another section besides R&S maybe politics.

Because "I'm a very spiritual person" or "My religion is the only true religion" both sound better than, "My entire life is based on the astro-theological teachings of ancient myth disguised as deeply profound truths."

Mythology and Folk lore Old tales- Religion uses works , Tithes, and Ceremonies to please God- Spirituality And Christianity is accepting, we are Spirit in flesh , and that faith , is the only way we can please God. Faith with out Use is dead. Hope this helps,
