Does anybody know what company/price/store is appropriate for such a jumpstarter?

Thanks a million

I think the ones where you plug into ciggarette lighters are the most convenient, with caution: they may need the ignition switch to be on to work, and they may charge slower than other types, where typically the person jumpering you may not want to wait a long time. But when applicable, they seem to have the least chance of sparking. If you pay a lot, you can get the battery-to-battery type with non sensitive polarity, or built-in circuit breakers for safety. Otherwise, to me the rest are kind of the same, with potential for sparks.

I bought a jump n start made by roadmaster and it has helped me in my truck and boat when my battery needed to be replaced.

I bought mine for $39.99 (5 yrs ago) on sale at a GI Joe's but I have seen it at other auto parts stores as well.

Hope this helps.
