The key to this is to understand the problem. If your puppy is teething, then get him lots of chew toys and keep an eye out; if he stops playing with the chew toy and starts biting something else, catch him quickly, scold him, and give him the chew toy (replacing whatever it is he was biting). You have to be more strict when he is biting you. If you are playing with him and he bites you immediately stop playing. With this method in time he will learn that if he wants to play he needs to be gentle.
If your puppy is past the teething stage and is still biting, it might be because this problem occured during teething or this is your puppy's way of reducing stress. Once again have lots chew toys for him to turn to and be more strict when he bites you. I learned that time-outs do a great deal in training. You should look up more information on the breed of the dog, it helps to understand how fast and how well your dog understands you.
Please remember to always be patient with puppys and dogs and never hit them. Good Luck.

Puppies bite. It's what they do. Chew toys help but don't always solve the problem. Get some spray called The Bitter End, it is an all natural spray that tastes bitter and will get puppies to stop eating your home. As for biting you, a little flick on it's nose helps with a solid "NO". Doesn't really hurt them but it gets the picture across that it is not an acceptable behavior. Make sure the dog knows you are the Alpha -- not him.

It's still young and teething. And baby teeth are very sharp. Try some chew bones. But, that doesn't always help. Some don't go for that. They like the attention from you and that is how they play with their brothers and sisters. A simple toy,(and is cheap too) is tie a couple of old socks in a knot. And used that to play with, Tossing it so they will chase it and it will have your smell on it, so that is an extra plus.
Also, when he bites you, gently push his head down, and try to get him in a sitting position, and in a load voice say "No, Down". Hopefully after a few times he will learn that you don't want that. When he does what you what and stays down, give him a treat and tell him , "Good Boy".
Good luck.

Puppies are like children. They do what they can get away with.
It sounds like he's just teething but biting is also how puppies play. If you don't want him to be a biter as he gets older, start training him now. Denying him contact is one way to get your point across without hurting him. Give him toys to chew on and when he tries to chew on you or something he's not supposed to have, pick him up and gently put him down on the floor or in his crate/pen. Puppies crave contact and being removed from the person they love is something they'll want to avoid.
When he chews on something he's supposed to chew on, encourage that behaviour with praise and the occasional treat!

Unfortunately thats what puppies do. The puppy is probably teething and chewing makes them feel better. Give him a toy to chew on, preferably the rubber kind. When he bites you tell him sharply No and stop petting and playing with the puppy. Give him his toy.

Puppies are like that. I walked around for months with bites and scratches on my hands and arms when our sharpei was still a baby dog. My husband resorted to the rolled up newspaper, but I just ignored her when she was being a nuisance and rewarded her with lots of love and attention when she was being good and sweet. That worked well, since she really craved the attention. In the beginning she couldn't manage to be nice for over a minute or two, but you should see her now. Angelic! So... I wish you lots of patience, my friend.

that is how puppies feel things. if you want it to stop you need to in a firm voice say NO or when puppys play they yelp when they play to ruff, maybe try that. pet food stores sell a thing called yuk you just spray it on your hand or anything else you dont want your puppy to chew on and it will leave a bad taste in there mouth and they will not do it again. good luck

puppies do lose teeth just like us. when they start losing teeth, their reaction is the same as an infant teething. they are always chewing on things to make the process go smoother. take him to a place like petco or petsmart where they can go in and have him fine a chew toy that he likes or even a juicy bone. when he goes to chew on you, push them away or tap them softly on their nose(it is a sensitive spot, it's like gently slapping the child's hand). after a while it knows that bitting or chewing on people is not a good way to shake hands with.

you cant make him stop, he is a puppy, besides he doesnt have teeth yet, right? well when puppies dont have their teeth completely develop they sense a sort of anxiety for biting things, notice that also this happens with little babies.
