My father had his removed 9 years ago.
Does she now have a colostomy?
The stoma was be tender for awhile, and she needs to be cautious with the area until it heals. Once she gets adjusted to it, though, it just becomes a part of everyday life.
If you have any major concerns with it, though, I'd suggest going back to your doctor to sit down with them. They can help you out greatly. Its far better to know what to expect than to be scared when it happens.
