our son is only 5th percentile in height right now and i'm wondering if there's any hope for him to get into a higher percentile.

Don't worry! My daughter only had a 7 inch inseam when she was 2 and a half years old! And weighed about 18 pounds. She was so tiny. I thought there was something wrong. I even had her tested in many ways. She is now 8 years old, and she is the same size as all of the others in her class.

Don't worry about the percentile. My sons (17 month twins) have been between 10-20th percentile since birth. They are growing and the doctor said that is the most important thing. I think eventually they will go through a growth spurt. I am not too concerned right now.

I wouldn't worry. I'm convinced the whole percentile thing exists to worry parents. everyone comes in different shapes and sized and all children grow at there own rate, my husband was SOOO small up until 9th grade and then went through a crazy growth spurt and is now considered a "big guy"... My niece was over 8lbs when she was born, she is now almost 2 and is such a little peanut she doesn't even make it on the chart!! But yet she was walking at 9months!! As long has your son is developing and on target with everything else I wouldn't even think about it!

Of course, he has lots of time to catch up!

But maybe he'll be a famous JOCKEY, with
the WINNING HORSE at the DERBY....

Or, he could end up the tallest President ever

It won't matter to you
