I am looking for artists who used the "written word" as their inspiration for their work and interpreted it in their own way e.g in a painting or sculpture etc. I am looking for reccomondation of artists to look at.

Look at most 15th century art, the renaissance period, and baroque period.

Titian
Tintoretto

The lady of shallot by Waterhouse,is one example. its in the tate gallery and is based on arthurian legend. The pre-raphaelites often used literature as an inspiration.
Thats a good start.

The answer is endless if you think of the bible as "written word". Leonardo being among the finest.
