I've got an Altec Lansing ACS54 4.1 speaker system and a Soundblaster Audigy 4. Recently within the last couple of days I've noticed a lot of crackly noises when noises get too loud i.e. guns in games, certain songs. Are my speakers worn out from the humidity or something or is it my sound card (which is only about a month old).

GET NEW SPEAKERS

Most likely it is not your sound card. If you like your music and games loud, you may have blown a speaker. But before you replace them, check your volume levels and connections first.
Right click on your volume icon in the task bar. Select open volume control and check the master volume and the wave volume. If the levels are too high reduce them to a point where they won't cause the speakers to distort.
Next, try checking the connections. If the jacks are loose fitting or dirty, crimp them slightly with a pliers (be very careful not to bend them out of shape) or clean them with a q-tip and some rubbing alcohol. Make sure they're dry before plugging them back in.
If the speakers still distort after these adjustments or they aren't as loud as you'd like, I would recommend new speakers. You can do an on line search and find some good deals- even surround sound speakers have come down in price considerably over the past few years. Try eBay for some good prices and then try the usual suspects....Best Buy, Circuit City, J&R Music World etc.
Hope this helps! Have a great day!

interference. once you're transforming into what i imagine you're transforming into, its interference. fcc regulations 15 or some thing like that. what takes position is that crappy audio equipment dont get interference guards and are poorly designed so that they settle for waves from different digital instruments and make the beeeeeeeeeeee sound. a difficulty-free thanks to attempt that is to have a cellular telephone in the front of your speaker and make contact along with your cellular telephone. if it begins making that beeeeeeeeee sound, then its interference.

Do you have a cell phone or something by it. Sometime the frequincies on a phone mess with my speakers.

Might just need to unplug them and clean the posts. I have had that problem before.
