you could write about what it takes to work as an EMS, or when it all began, who initiated it, what are requirements to keep working there, how many lives have been saved in a year by EMS. Do a comparative paper on then and now. what are the costs of EMS and is it worth it. how many calls do EMS workers get every day.
hope this gives you some ideas.

As a paramedic I'd say go to your local ambulance service and ask some of the medics and EMT's if they'd be interested in talking to you about what we do. Most of us are very receptive to the idea and would be willing to help out.

I would interview a couple of ems drivers and ask them ? about what makes them do what they do. Ask them if they have had a personal experience that has stuck with them and then base your paper from your interviews adding your only touches of what you thought about what they said.
