I don't want to work on a cruise ship or an airplane, I just wanna travel all over and see what people do, how they live, the different cultures, things like that. I looked up what a travel agent does but they don't alwyas travel, they just book flights and stuff for people who are going to travel. Any ideas?

The thing is when you travel with a job you are usually working and not able to check out the community, unless you have a long term gig of 6 weeks or more in a new location. I used to have friends that were computer programmers from england. they worked here in a different city for 6 months at a shot and that was great. They got in their car every weekend and saw as much of america as they could - but that was like 10 years ago. I don't know if that is still a viable option.

The best way to see the world is on vacation or as a travel expert or reporter (like Rick Steeves or Burt Wolf) because you can really take the time to learn about the places you go. You could start off backpacking in Europe and then try to get jobs working with tour guides to learn about the places maybe. Maybe you could be part of the crew that travels with Rick Steeves or something - that would be great!

Alternatively I find that prosperous travel agents see a lot of the world. They take trips that are tax deductible because they are checking out the destination for their clients plus they get the best deals on travel fares. I know a family that owns an agency and they travel at least 4 times a year or more. Of course, they are the owners - they have 1 other person working in the office (maybe he doesn't travel at all, always in the office minding the store).

Peace!

I would like to know this too. That is the kind of job I would like also. Have you tried getting into People-to-People? It's a government funded organization that lets you travel in groups of 30 to 40 to different parts of the globe to promote peace and foreign knowledge to folks in America.

why don't you try the "swap" website (try swap.ca). you can visit other countries and work in them. it's not a JOB, but you can visit places while working.

a lot of bank jobs and tech jobs require travel IF you are an important person who needs to do a lot of meetings.

i'd suggest travel and work, rather than working to travel. besides, when you travel FOR your job, you don't have a whole lot of time to experience the different cultures. you jet into the city, do what you gotta do, and jet out. yuck.

Soldiers travel a lot. If you want to learn different languages you could be a translator. You could be a rock star and go on tour. You could be good at soccer and play at different countries. You could work for a big corporation like Microsoft and see if they will send you to different countries.
