A set of Rosary Beads is a circular string of beads with an extra small section hanging off it with a crucifix attached. The circular is divided into 'decades', that is one 'Our Father' and Ten 'Hail Mary's'. (They are both prayers). Incidentally, I am sure it is only us Catholics who use the Rosary Beads. There are ten sets of 'decades' and you finish up with three or four other prayers. It used to be traditional in Irish homes that the family Rosary was said by all members of the family each evening. It is also regularly said at funerals. Hope this helps..........

Catholics didnt invent it but buddhist and islam has a similar one also. Catholasism didnt always have the rosary either and the bible says there is only one Being between man and God and thats Jesus Christ. We arent supposed to pray except to God through Christ and if you dont its ignored see prayer isnt just asking, prayer is coming before the throne of God to handle every need big or little. You don see anyone praying to the dead in the bible, the apostles or anyone.

The rosary is a religious 'necklace', for want of a better word, with beads, some small and some larger. for every larger bead there is a specific prayer you would run your hands over the beads, stopping at each larger one and reciting the prayer. Its almost a form of meditation, and gets the suplicant into a better state of mind to speak to God.
