Twp parts. 1...when taking your practice strokes look at the hole and think of the weight..."How hard do I need to hit it to get it there?" 2 When actually stroking the ball, make sure you hold the finish of your stroke. Do NOT let the putter head 'recoil' after contact with the ball. The putter head finishes at the hole. Ken

Try and get a good angle at the hole, examine all hills and divots in the ground that may stunt your ball from moving at a good speed to reach your hole. Use your hips and be able to see the ball beneath your eyes. But practicing is very keen as well. Simple things such as adding a cup on the floor and putting it into that can give you a good grab on the green. Also a putter with a great aim line and enough durability to work on even the hardest courses is good for the intermediate level and great for pros as well.

Make sure you don't use your wrists. Practice. Learn the feel and how far to take the club back for different distances. That takes hours of practice.
PGA Director of Instruction Rick Martino explains how you can become a confident, more successful putter with some easy drills.

Make sure you eyeline is over the ball. To check this stand over the ball and drop a club from your left eye it should then be directly over the ball. Secondly keep your legs and your head dead still over the ball. Thirdly try to get you top part of you spine as paralel to the grond as posibble. The reason for this is we need our shoulders to move in a pendalym motion. If you stand to upright your putter could deviat form the line you intend to put along.

Go to a practice putting green. Find a hole that will give you a straight, slightly uphill putt. Make ten, 3 foot putts in a row. Then, make ten 4 foot putts in a row. I guarantee you that you will become an outstanding putter if you will use this drill.

Point the logo of your golf ball at the angle you are putting for better contact with the ball. This way you at least have a place to aim your putter up with!!
