Sure walking will help you loose weight and tone up.
Start drinking plenty of water if you're not already....
Start walking and watch the pounds melt away.
Now, you do have to walk for at least 30 minutes.
You need to get your heart rate going.

Walking will definitely help you burn calories. But you have to do it with a fair amount of vigor. A good "speed walk" is better than just a leisurely stroll with your dog. However, if you are young and healthy, I would suggest running. Running is probably the best, most efficient way to burn fat and get lean. Wear good shoes, though- don't skimp in that department, or your feet/knees/joints will hate you for it.

No you need to put effort in to the point where it makes you breath a little harder.

Walking and jogging can only work in conjunction with diet to reduce weight. You would have to walk hard for about 6 hours to burn off a small hamburger.

Walking is the best, you've got to walk a mile or two for it to do any good, but walking at 4mph, that only takes 15-30 minutes. So if you walk an hour a day, you'll be well on the way to fitness.

I think brisk walking is a GREAT way to loose weight, walk you r dog, but let him go faster than normal, so that you are walking faster, and he also gets to have a little more fun. Just don't let him go so fast you're flying along, remember, it's supposed ta be a brisk walk, not a lesson in flying. =}

Yes as long as you go far enough and walk at a good pace. You need to increase your walks as you start getting faster at them. Also you could add weights to your ankles to help give you more resistance. If you could, add a few short sprints into your walk that is good for you too.

walking is a great excersise. it's easy on your joints and stuff plus it's great for begginers. i'm sure your dog would love to walk with you! as a matter of fact, they say getting a dog can be great for your health for that reason. i'd reccomend getting a pedometer though so you can measure how far you're walking. most people think they walk farther then they usually do. get one and aim for 10,000 steps a day!

Yeah, but not as fast as running.....if you walk you lose 100-200 calories per mile I think and when you run it's like 530....that's a significant difference.
