I lost a lot of weight years ago, so I know I can do it, but since putting some back on, I've not been able to stick to anything. I don't even bother telling anyone anymore, because they know I'll give it up in a few days/ weeks.

I'm a vegetarian who doesn't really like veggies. I tend to live on cheese and bread.... hence the weight gain. When I lost weight before, I ate meat but don't want to go back to doing so.

here.. hope it works for you...
visualize that inside you there's two person.. one is the elder, just say a mother figure.. and the other is a child...
the child is so naughty.. and keep yelling..
you have to make the mother to 'tame' the child..

You've heard the phrase "exercise your willpower". It's like any other exercise. You hate it at first and you want to give up, and if you don't have any support or a real drive to succeed, you'll give up because it's easier.
I'm a supporter of Weight Watchers too. I've lost 25 pounds so far and this has been the easiest diet I've ever tried (and my 3rd time on WW) because this time, my husband is on board too. Willpower is easier to exercise if you have a partner to support you and not sabotage you. Even if they're not on the same diet, as long as they support your goal, whether it's weight loss, fitness, or anything else to better yourself, you'll be less likely to give up. Try Weight Watchers and bring a friend so you can give each other support. Go to their website and find a meeting location. You can visit one meeting for free.
Also, start exercising with your friend. The extra motivation will help a lot and the boosted physical results will make you want to stick with it.
Kate, the Bubba, and Stillwater all have good answers and they're all factors that are in the Weight Watchers program.
Good luck!

Maybe you give up because you don't see immediate results. Sometimes if that happens, you might think there is no point. It could also be because what you are doing is not enjoyable. All you really need to do is keep a healthy, balanced diet and do regular exercise. Get a friend to go to the gym or just for a jog with you . It will be better with company and you will have someone to motivate you. You could even have a competition with a friend to see who loses 1lb first, that will be an incentive to keep trying, especially if the "loser" has to treat the winner to something fun.

Without knowing, there are factors that have considerable effect on your behaviour. If you have not chosen a direction, you have no commitment. Maybe you are afraid you can not stick to your goal. Then you think, well it doesn't bother me anymore. Later you will regret.
The remedie:
Choose a target which can be reached at short term and reward yourself. Then expand your targets. You will be proud to learn to reach your goal.
There will be moments when you will fall back. Think about at what circumstances those moments occur and be prepared. If you recognise your losing your commitment, you will remember that you predicted that. Chose a new close target towards your goal and reach it.
It is something important for your whole life to know that you can achieve something and you have willpower. It is in you, Discover it!

Maybe you're feeling like you're depriving yourself. The main thing with losing weight really is just counting calories, watching your portion sizes and getting some sort of exercise daily. I'm on Weight Watchers and I've lost 52 pounds so far. It can definitely be done, you just have to stick with it.

well have you lost weight with the stuff you tried? My guess is not. Because if you do then get yourself a mirror so you can see the difference. That alone will give you the encouragement to keep at it. also set a goal and buy a set of clothing that you want to fit into so you can try it every now and again if your getting into it easier then your doing good. Good luck to you.

I used to be the same way. Ultimately, it was lack of motivation for me. You should try developing some goal, or have a good reason for why you want to accomplish your goal. For losing weight, you could try focusing on the fact that you may need to improve your health, or maybe you really want to look better. Everything you do is in your mind, and all you probably need is a little motivation.

You have no will power cause you choose not to have it which in the end means you have will power. You made the choice to ask this question, that's will power. No one on here can truely answer that cause we aren't you. All we can do is give you some advice and hope you listen. You have will power, everyone does. It's up to you to follow through with what you start..

I've been goin to keepfit twice a week cutting down on my eating habits. More fruit than I care to mention, but I've lost about 6lbs in the same number of weeks. Becuase willpower is a myth. It is not an act of will to not eat because eating is an instinctive act of self-preservation and can't be willed away. Your will is to eat so what you are really doing is denying your will by not eating and attempting to adhere to diets which are not natural to you.
