A phone call on my birthday.
It sounds small and simple but at the time, and especially when you consider who it was from, it was the best thing any one could have given me. :)
It was this last January, and it was my soldier who made the call. He had just recently gotten back from Iraq but was stationed in another state that was too far away for us to be able to meet up any time soon. (we were still just dating)
My birthday was coming up and as hard as we tried to find a way to get together so we could spend it together, it just wasn't happening. I finally at one point said that I wished it could have been possible, even if it couldn't be in person I missed him and wished I could spend my day with him. I told him I understood though and figured that was the end of the whole idea right there.
The week was rough though and no one was remembering my birthday around here (or anything else for that matter) and my soldier knew it. The next thing I knew was on the early evening of my birthday I got an unexpected call from him. :)
He had saved up his minutes on his cell and cleared his entire evening so that he could call and spend my birthday with me. :) We ended up talking till about 1 in the morning too lol cause neither of us wanted to let each other go. lol
A few days later he had even found a way to get me up to see him too which just made it all the better. :)

My dog Rowdy. The dog lasted 14 years. The relationship 1 year, but he gave me Rowdy so he stays special.
