brands / models won't be a reliable guide in that price range, the biggest factors are does it fit you and is it in good repair.
avoid the wal-mart stuff
call around to various bike shops, see what they have for used.
a few shops are like co-ops where you can get a good deal and
also work on it yourself to save $
craigslist and ebay are possibilities, but you have to really know what you're doing.

Under $200? WHEW! Flun 11's right---EBAYs the best to find the bargain USED clunkers! Try SINGLE SPEED mt. bikes---Redline Mono Cog, Kona Kaboom---maybe its the best you can find in that range.

Stay away from the Wal-Mart, K-mart and Traget crap. Yea, they may look like a good bike but its all paint and polish.
