Good question. Daniel 12:2And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.
The wages of sin is death. But God, who alone is immortal, will grant eternal life to His redeemed. Until that day death is an unconscious state for all people. When Christ, who is our life, appears, the resurrected righteous and the living righteous will be glorified and caught up to meet their Lord. The second resurrection, the resurrection of the unrighteous, will take place a thousand years later. (Rom. 6:23; 1 Tim. 6:15, 16; Eccl. 9:5, 6; Ps. 146:3, 4; John 11:11-14; Col. 3:4; 1 Cor. 15:51-54; 1 Thess. 4:13-17; John 5:28, 29; Rev. 20:1-10.)
You will all through scripture that those who die sleep in the grave until Christ second return - no one goes to hell or heaven immediately. Even when Jesus died do you think he went to heaven and then his father in heaven resurrected him? The Bible says that he was in the tomb for 3 days.
The evidences are clear.

The Bible also says that He who does God's will remain on earth. Adam and Eve were created perfect, in a paradise, on earth. Yes, the Bible also mentions Heaven. It mentions a certain number, 144,000. These people are the ones directly chosen by God to live in heaven. Thier resurrection is during this lifetime. They are referred as" the little flock". Jesus said that he has other sheep," which are not of this fold".
There are a lot of good people that outnumber 144,000. Those are the ones that will remain forever. If a certain number goes to heaven, and the rest remain on earth, then what about the bad ones? The bad ones will be cleansed from the earth on judgement day. The bible speaks of 1.) "great tribulation" and 2.)"Armageddon". During the great tribulation, evil is rid of the earth, by eliminating evildoers. The Bible says that the devil will be locked away for a period of a thousand years. Afrter the great tribulation, those who died before getting to know God, good and bad, will be resurrected to a resurrection of judgement. The Bible mentions only one time for resurrection for the other sheep, which is after the great tribulation.During this time period, people will be resurrected, people will grow to perfection, back to the paradise God intended the earth to be. Once everyone is perfect, the devil is let loose for a little while, to tempt perfect mankind. The faithful ones will remain and this time, once and for all, the devil, his demons and the ones he tempted will be eliminated. And the last enemy, death is eliminated as well. The Bible does not say how exactly this will happen, but I have faith that it will and hope to be one of the ones remaining.

The moment a Christian dies their soul will be with Jesus.
Paul says it is better to be absent from the body and with Jesus than to be here alive on earth.
2 Cor. 5:5-8 (NKJV)
Now He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who also has given us the Spirit as a guarantee. [6] So we are always confident, knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord. [7] For we walk by faith, not by sight. [8] We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.
The Bible really isn't clear what happens to the people souls that don't believe in Jesus as savior.
Some believe they go straight to hell...but I don't think so because the final judgement hasn't happened.
There is still an expecation in heaven...everyone there is waiting for their body. At the resurrection, bodies will be raised and united with souls...the body will be perfected.
When Jesus returns will be when bodies are united with their souls...then the judgment will begin.
Matthew 25:46 (NKJV)
And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life."

The resurrection does not refer to reanimation after death, it refers to becoming a new person in the here and now. Death is a metaphor for a purposeless selfish existence. The Kingdom of Heaven is not some future nation, it's the body of believers in the here and now.
Modern Christians have totally muddled the original message and turned it into something beyond absurd.

Many Christians like myself believe that between death and judgement, the soul sleeps. It would seem to YOU that judgement happens quickly, just like you dont notice how long you've slept at night. But there will be a great ressurection and judgement for both the saved and unsaved.

My own belief is that it is only people who trust Jesus who go to be with Him at death. Their sins are already judged, and the penalty paid.
The rest of humanity will be resurrected. God will not destroy good people, but He will destroy the wicked. I think there will be lots of surprised people!!
Death and Hell (the grave) will be tossed into the lake of fire along with all the rest of the garbage. That fire cannot be quenched...that is, nobody can put it out until it has burned away everything unfit for God's Kingdom.
(The opinions expressed are my own, and may or may not be in agreement with Management)

we.. When you die and go to heaven, your body stays here right?
At the time of the rapture the bodies of the dead christians (or their molecules) are raised up and they are inside of their bodies again. At that time the bodies are also restored to like before Adam sinned. The Christians alive are transformed in the air when they go to meet Jesus in the air..
1Co 15:52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
In Rev. 20 I take that to mean that their bodies weren't resurrected until later, as a soul never really dies or ceases to exist. Notice the part above where it says (we shall be changed) the living Christians are changed or transformed to like b4

These are all the unbelievers or those who rejected salvation.
We know this because it say's they will be judged on "works"
The Christian is saved by faith not by works.
Rev 20:12
I [also] saw the dead, great and small; they stood before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is [the Book] of Life. And the dead were judged (sentenced) by what they had done [[b]their whole way of feeling and acting, their aims and endeavors] in accordance with what was recorded in the books.13And the sea delivered up the dead who were in it, death and Hades ([c]the state of death or disembodied existence) surrendered the dead in them, and all were tried and their cases determined by what they had done [according to their motives, aims, and works].

It's kinda like when you die, if you were a good person you go to the before heaven and if you were bad you go to the before hell, but then on judgment day you are completely judged and are sent then to heaven or hell.

When we die, our souls go to heaven or hell. Our bodies, obviously, stay where they are. When Christ comes again, he takes these bodies and our souls are reunited with our bodies and then those bodies are made perfect. I believe this is the Resurrection spoken of.
