Father, I ask in the name of your son that you help this young woman and comfort her. Father, please teach her to trust you in all things, including when she has to face things that she may be afraid of...like going to a doctor and getting a blood test. Please give her the peace that passes all understanding, and I ask this in Jesus name, amen.

Before you do or go anywhere that frightens you (with regard to your phobia), ask God in the name of His son to enable you to do what you need to do. He promises if you ask, He will give it to you.

It will be okay. Remember, we are more than conquerors through Jesus Christ our Lord, and that includes all our fears!

Hi, I'm Catholic too ... I just did a search for the type of prayer you're looking for, but couldn't find one.

You may want to pray one decade of the Rosary (an Our Father, 10 Hail Mary, and 1 Glory Be) while reflecting on the First Sorrowful Mystery -- Christ's Agony in the Garden of Gethsemane.

Before you pray the decade, perhaps you can read one of the Gospel accounts of this scene, to focus your mind on the suffering Christ endured -- suffering which was brought on in anticipation of a difficult event (crucifixion for Him, going to the doctor for you).

You can also, before beginning to pray the decade, ask God for the strength to overcome your fear and to help you get through the blood test okay.

God be with you, and feel free to PM me if you like.

I'm Catholic as well and the website below has several prayers. The rosary is always calming for me so give that a try as well. Shoot me a message if you'd like any further help.

"O Lord, this is all my desire -- to walk along the path of life that Thou hast appointed me, even as Jesus my Lord would walk along it, in steadfastness of faith, in meekness of spirit, in lowliness of heart, in gentleness of love. And because outward events have so much power in scattering my thoughts and disturbing the inward peace in which alone the voice of Thy spirit is heard, do Thou, gracious Lord, calm and settle my soul by that subduing power which alone can bring all thoughts and desires of the heart into captivity to Thyself. All I have is Thine; do Thou with all as seems best to Thy divine will; for I know not what is best. Let not the cares or duties of this life press on me too heavily; but lighten my burden, that I may follow Thy way in quietness, filled with thankfulness for Thy mercy, and rendering acceptable service unto Thee."

Fear can also be the opposite of love. We think of hatred as the antonym, but we could also say that fear is. Jesus taught that perfect love casts out fear -- and so when we have fear (unreasonable fear, fear on a constant basis) we are lacking in love.

We move past fear by serving others. As the Pope once said, to serve is to reign in the Kingdom of God, and to serve is to love. It dovetails. It is in that Kingdom that our problems are solved. We were reminded of such this week through a conversation with healer Robert McCormack, a third-order Servite who lives in Boca Raton, Florida and believes that all the storms are the earth's way of calling out against our sinfulness. Our greatest sin? A lack of service. Everyone is looking for what is in it for them. It's now the "American way." "Love is out the window these days," he laments.

And when we look around we note how fear has grown in proportion to our selfishness. Fear has also grown as we have dehumanized each other.

That may serve as another explanation for why God allows storms: they cause people to help each other. They cause us to put things in perspective. There is a real benefit here. As McCormack points out, there is a group in Lighthouse Point near Deerfield Beach, Florida, that has a ministry focusing on prayers against hurricanes and Protestants are also rallying their prayer warriors.

To pray for someone is to love, and this affords us additional protection.

To move beyond fear is to confess. It is to purge our imperfections. It is to love without limit. This opens our hearts, and then miracles occur. Prayers are answered.

There are people who fear going out in public, meeting strangers, eating certain foods, traveling, insects, disease, and so forth. They can extinguish those phobias by filling themselves with God -- Who is love Itself.

Perfect love casts out evil and when joined with prayer can even cast away the winds that howl and the waves that crash to our shores.

Try Praying directly to THE GOD rather than using an intercessor.

It is quite possible that unless you do the biblical thing-- and pray to GOD via JESUS and HIM alone your prayer are just not going to get answered as you desire them to be.

How about joining the PRAYER GROUP and over 1,100 can PRAY for you!

It sounds like your faith may pull you through to the point you can face your fears to live in this world.. pray for Him to hold you in this time . Pray that He provides the more strength for you to see in yourself.. Pray that you are thankful for what you already have.. but I still think you should lean on someone in your life to counsil you thru this.. perhaps your minister, or someone who shares your faith .. someone who also you can lean on and discuss your actual phobias or what lies behind them.. good luck and God bless!
