It is a personal choice. I believe in the Christian/Catholic God. Other's don't, but that is ok because it is their choice and whatever suits them best.

so simple

===================
God cannot be more than ONE because if there were many gods besides God, then there would not have been such order in the universe, and each god would have taken away what he had created, and some would have lorded it over others. If there would have been many gods then each god would try to defeat others to establish his rule.

(Quran 17:42-43) Say: If there had been (other) gods with Him, as they say,- behold, they would certainly have sought out a way to the Lord of the Throne! Glory to Him! He is high above all that they say!- Exalted and Great (beyond measure)!

2. God, the Eternal, Absolute

God has to be Eternal then otherwise He would have a beginning. Suppose, we say God had a beginning, then there was a time when God did not exist. It means that he needed somebody else to make him exist. So there is somebody else who is God, not him. but as we agreed that there is only one God, therefore, there is no one else who make Him exist. When we say that God cannot be born, we are also saying that a creator cannot becomes his creation, because creation means what is in need of a creator. To be a creature, mean there had to be someone to create you. So if God becomes his creation, it means now he is in need of a creator. And this is absudity! As we know, A creation is not eternal. An eternal being is uncreated. We can conclude that the one God who is uncreated, has to be Eternal.

It follows by logical necessity that if God is one, and if He is eternal, Then obviously He does not beget , Nor is he begotten. Because if He beget, then He will have a child and the child will have to be God-like. So there will then be two Gods. Since we agreed that there is only one God, you cannot have two. OR If he was begotten, that means he would have father. Then the father will be older than him and more eternal than him. and we cannot have one who is more eternal than "ETERNAL"

In Short, It is IMPOSSIBLE that God can LITERALLY have a son.

4. And there is none like unto Him
means He is unique unlike that which He has created
===================

"Say: He is God, The One and Only. "God, the Eternal, Absolute.
"He begets not, nor is He begotten. And there is none like unto Him."
[Quran 112:1-4

this is what islam teaches

====================
and to this God i invite you with open arm.

That's an age old question my friend. It takes time and study to investigate all of the possibilities. In the end, it will all come down to what speaks to your heart, and then in reality, it's all a matter of faith.

It would be very diffucult to look at our glorious Earth and not believe in some sort of Higher Power. Is there an evolutionary process? Of course! But did we all come from some primordial soup? Probably not possible in the time frame of known civilization.

I'm a mental health professional, addiction counselor, as well as a psychic. So I'll give you the advice that my clients receive: take what you like and leave the rest. (in reference to the study and search that you do to find your truth and your own spiritual truth)

The most difficult task that you will have to surmount, is separating "professionals" own personal bias about the particular subject your studying. In other words, when you are reading text affiliated with a particular religion, be it Christianity, Buddism, Hinduism, ect., each author believes that they have made a case for thier particular religion.

That's great, if you decide that you need an organized religion and wish to follow their doctrine. But you may find that you own path leads you to spiritual beliefs rather than religious beliefs.

My own personal belief is that whatever you decide may be your Higher Power, that Higher Power does not require you to "sign up" with a particular religious sect.

I believe that God is larger than that. That religion defines what that Higher Power is and how he acts, and what he expects. That's assigning human charicteristics to something that is much more and much larger than what we can comprehend.

So do your research from the Bible right on down the line. And when you look for a bible to read, remember that the Bible was edited and material ommited by the Council of Nicea. Find yourself a translation from earlier text. I will list one for you in my resource list.

Good luck with your research. And if you don't meditate, start! You need a quiet, peaceful mind to be able to hear the communication and guidance that you WILL receive!

By attaining the wisdom that ALL beliefs are never more than deception.

The real truth will never stoop so low as to require belief, ONLY lies and liars will do that.

Many say that nobody can know the whole truth and that is a LIE you already do know it, its just that you have been deceived to believe something else.

Note also that belief is a sure indication of insanity.

Realize that reality is truth and vice versa.

Further, the acceptance of truth/reality is deemed to be sanity, the refusal to accept truth/reality is deemed as insanity.

Now then by what other means can one deny truth/reality other than by belief?

Answer: none

Therefore, belief is the very foundation of insanity, you don't have to be a victim, simply accept the obvious and apperant.

Don't misunderstand that i'm saying there is no Creator, what i'm saying is "God" is actually the Destroyer(Satan to some) in an insidious disguise.

You have to educate yourself towards the various religions of the world, what they believe in general, and why?

If you are investigating christian denominations, then you have to compare their teachings to the book they claim they derive those teachings from.

Be open minded, and go to the source. Ask baptists about baptist, and mormons about mormons, ask a Jehovah's witness about Jehovah's Witnesses.

Be thorough, and do not let anybody do your thinking for you.

Jehovah's Witnesses publish a book, which is available for free, entitle "Mankind's Search for God". There are some other fair books on various religions in your local bookstore too.

Some are good, others are biased, and therefore you must research, research, research.

Reading this forum alone should alert you to the fact that people are more than eager to share a distorted view of another man's faith.

There is a way to know. He who knew the end from the beginning. The God of the Bible is the one in control of destiny. See how He foretold even the present condition of this world trough His prophets. Very specific details impossible for anyone to foretell unless He had control of all events human or otherwise. No other gods or goddesses can make that claim. I should know; i searched many religions and i´ve been reading the Bible for 45 years. Trust Jesus for your salvation. God bless you!!!

That's why I'm Agnostic.
From my understanding, you're damned (Literally) if you choose the wrong one.
Agnostic is just a term for "I don't know"
I say if I had to go with a Religion, I'd go with Buddhism b/c it's got a great set of morals and is the least likely to make you choke down beliefs about 'God'. Their whole system revolves around 'everything is as it should be' and not harming others (including critters).

Oh well - Good Luck

After reading the other questions on your list I think I can answer better.

Look at the facts.

Where is progress made and other countries copy?
Where to most people in the world want to move to?
Where can you ask any questions without the religious police attacking.
Where is there the least mob rule?

Now ask your self--- What is the most common religion of that country.

North America will be the answer for questions one, two, three, and four.

Christianity (although eroding) is the answer to number five.

Buddhism, islam, Hindu, etc. just seem to hold back the human mind and Country it dwells in.

TRUE CHRISTIANITY is THE CHOICE for progressive thinking!

No one naturally knows for sure exactly who or what is 'out there' so to speak. The best thing you can do, in my opinion, is persue the truth honestly and sincerely. How could any God ever blame you for dedicating your life to understanding him/her and his/her creation?
If you want to research different religions, www.wikipedia.com is a great place to start!
Try searching for these key words....
Buddhism
Christianity
Catholicism
Judaism
Hinduism
Satanism
Paganism
Taoism
Atheism
Agnosticism

Also try to keep in mind. It's not nearly as important choosing the right religion as it is understanding what you are choosing. Anyone can make a guess based on what their family or friends say... but do you really want to gamble with your life like that? Do the research and form your own opinions! You'd be surprised how little most people know when they try to preach "the truth".

Everything you believe, whether it is in a god or a way of life is your decision. Use the knowledge and feelings that you have to decide what works for you. It most definitely will be different than everyone else. It is what makes you, you.

Is God an impersonal force or a real person? Does he have a name? How can we come to know God?
