I asked my hairdresser the sam question. Higlighting you hair strips your hair of the color so its pretty dry. Chlorine drys out your hair even more. It is usually recommended that you don't rinse your hair for one to two days after you get highlights. So it would be best to wait after the first time you rinse your hair. Once you do go swimming your hair will be really dry and might break off so in the shower use some reconstructing conditioner for 10 mins or so to remoisturize your hair.

If you highlighted your hair blond from an extremely oppisite color (say you had black hair) you should wait at least a good week and a half. If you have blond hair and highlighted with an even lighter blond you should only have to wait 4-7 days. It all depends how much your hair was bleached and how strong the chlorine level in your pool is.. If it's in a river you should be safe.

Wait til it has been washed at least once. If you are worried about the blonde turning green, it will help to put a leave in conditioner in it before you swim. The conditioner fills in the nooks and crannies in the hair so that the chlorine isn't absorbed into the hair, thus cannot react with the newly lightened hair to turn it green.

There is really no time limit.... It just depends on the brand of hair color, some our more likely to turn your hair green than other. Even some girls with natural blond hair get the green or orange look when they go in a pool. Its just a risk you take with Blond hair. My suggestion...... skip the pool and hit the beach.

I would wait at least a day, then probably don't wash it before you go swimming. Sounds gross, but the oil from your scalp will help retard the chemical reaction with the clorine.

You should be able to swim now. Just be sure to rinse your hair well when you get out of the pool.
