"Considering Christianity has been here since the beginning of time and evolution was just made up by some one some day... "

Funny that you mention the Scopes trial. Evolution didn't have a voice in the schools until after the trial. Nowadays, Intelligent Design or Creation are in the same position as evolution was back then. Imagine that! Now, the tables are being turned back, hopefully to a balance, where they can be taught side by side, and let the chips fall where they may.

You will find that the same arguments made by the evolutionists are very effective, and are now being used by Creationists to get their voices heard. So, thanks for the precedent!

First of all, the ideas that would lead to Darwin's theory of evolution already existed in the early 1800s - Erasmus Darwin, Charles Darwin's grandfather, essentially laid out the entire principle of evolution in his 'Zoonomia' in the 1790s. A number of rennaisance era scientists had speculated about a gradual origin of life, and more than few people had noticed the similarities of humans and primates.

The Linnaean classification system is quite nearly a map of evolutionary cladistics, in fact. The idea that humans arose in the primate family was not a new one. Only the precise mechanics as described by Darwin in "Origin of the Species" was a truly unprecedented way of thinking.

Second of all, not all Christians, even 19th century ones, were all that shocked or horrified by the theory. In fact, Darwin's successor in further developing the theory was a Catholic priest named Gregor Mendel! (Who discovered the inheritance mechanism.)

yes there was a time machine actually. you are right on. did you see the movie The Village. Those characters created a figurative time machine in the form of a village cut off from others where they could live like they were in the 1800's. The Christians you speak of haven't' gone that far but they have however seemed to created a "time machine of the mind." ignoring seemingly unignorable facts, thus enabling themselves to walk blindly among the rest of us and hoping 1. to bring us into their blind fold or 2. not interact with us altogether.

group 1. the fishers of men are the hardest to deal with

group 2. are less of an annoyance, but it is still difficult for us to watch them stumble along in their ignorance.

How much more evolution will be necessary before we grow up enough to respect one another?
Is there a time machine that could project me forward to a time when people don't argue about this foolishness any more??

Hmmm. Please show me a live example of evolution and/or create life from inert chemicals without human intervention other than setting up the environment and I'll consider it.
