That doesn't sound normal i just had a baby 18 month ago & when i was pregnant they went over things that could happen & things that could happen that were serious & i was 37 when i had my daughter & when your older u have a greater risk of having different serious problems & the doctor never said any thing about passing out, your sister had better find out whats going on because (God forbid )something happens to her when she delivers her baby. Please go find out whats the problem if your sister has to change her doctor then do so because this dosen't sound right. God Bless!

If she doesn't have a high blood pressure or gestational diabetes then they should put her on bedrest...that certainly isn't normal, especailly if the hospital can't explain why, the good news is, she's only got a few more weeks to go! If the doctor won't put her on bedrest or if she has to work, when she gets home family and friends should take good care of her and not make her do too much sitting up and down or walking...or anything really!

The hormones of pregnancy, progesterone specifically, act to soften and dilate vessel walls, making dizziness a fairly common complaint of pregnancy. Blood pressure tends to decline in pregnancy, so women may at times feel lightheaded, especially when standing up quickly.
Any loss of consciousness warrants a full examination and a careful look at your medical history. In the end, they may find no explanation, but at least they can rule out some conditions.

There is a reason. By the time she gets to the hospital the crisis is over. Take her blood pressure, lying down, standing up, and sitting down. Record the three different readings. She may be hypotensive when standing up. Does it happen when she sits up quickly or stands up quickly? Has she had blood pressure problems during her pregnancy?

Changes in blood pressure, anemia and dehydration can be causes of fainting in pregnant women. Your sister should see her regular OB to determine what is causing the fainting spells.
If this happens from a sitting to a standing position, it could be orthostatic hypotension, meaning her blood pressure drops when she stands up.
Good luck!

Pregnancy can cause you to be light headed but as far as passing out that sounds more like a condition to me but if the hospital doesn't recognize it then she needs a 2nd opinion

A lot of pregnant women faint. is she taking her prenatal vitamins? Sometimes the fainting is caused by the lack of extra vitamins to nourish her while she has the baby inside. Or at least that's what a friend told me. He should have known, he was the one that got her pregnant.
