Yes, the airline will cancel the rest of your itinerary, and if you are listed as no-show, there will be no value left on your ticket.

If you plan on travelling one way, many people book a flight from point A to point C to get a cheap rate since flying from point A to point B is more expensive, and they get off at point B. If you attempt this, the airline can charge you the applicable one-way fare. This holds true on booking a round trip and only taking the outbound flight, though the airline is less likely to charge you the applicable one-way fare in this instance unless you do that alot on the same route.

If you plan on just getting off at the connection due to an issue with the airline operation, like they are late into the gate and you decide to take an alternate form of transportation to your destination, go to the gate counter and have the agent document your record so that they can "Open" the status of your ticket and keep your return reservation intact.

Hope this helps

No they will help you get on another plane to get where you are going, even if it is on another airline sometimes. Of course sometimes it takes awhile and you have to spend the night in the airport. Now if it is not because of delays and you just didn't get on the plane, that is different. But i made a mistake once because of the time difference and missed a flight due to my own fault and they still got me on the next flight. You should call them as soon as possible and make new arrangements or see what can be done.

did you miss the connecting flight or just decide not to finish the trip? If you dicided to not finish the trip you need to go to the ticket counter and have that leg of the trip canceled, or they will cancel the rest of you itinerary. If you missed the connection, go to the counter and they will rebook you onto another flight.

No, but you can try to call the company to cancel the ticket. Some company will not charge you and some will. It depends on which way you purchase the ticket. Some company will not refund the money, but you they will let you rebook the ticket within a year.
