When buying software online that is labeled "OEM", it may mean that the software came with a computer (and is licensed only for the computer that it came with). That means it may or may not work on your computer. Some OEM software, such as software bundled with Dell computers, is engineered to only install on Dell hardware.
Be careful.

Original Equipment Manufacturer
OEMs are manufacturers who resell another company's product under their own name and branding. While an OEM is similar to a VAR (value-added reseller), it refers specifically to the act of a company rebranding a product to its own name and offering its own warranty, support and licensing of the product. The term is really a misnomer because OEMs are not the original manufacturers; they are the customizers.

OEM Version softwares are priced lower, and are shipped with hardware. They are referring to this software. They lack fancy packaging etc.

It means that it was made by a different company and adopted and possibly adapted by another- I would avoid them as they could be cheaply made.
