Wrong. It is now 2400 -- 800 pts each for Writing, Math and Reading Comprehension.

As of March 15th, 2005, the new maximum score on the SAT exam is a 2400, due to the addition of a writing section. There is a maximum of 800 points for each section... Critical Reading, Math and Writing.

It used to be 1600 (Math 800, Critical Reading, aka English, 800). Now they have added a writing portion to the test, worth another 800. The total maximum is now 2400.

On the New SAT test, a 2400 is the highest possible score.

The higherst possible score is 1600, 800 for Math and 800 for English.

The SATs were changed last year. The max score is 2400 now, they took out analogies and added more essays.

it used to be a 1600 composite, and the ACT its a 36 i believe, but changed and now its a 2400
