DO NOT give your dog Pepto Bismol without first checking with your vet about dosage!!! Also, take away your dogs regular food and only feed him bland foods such as boiled chicken and rice. Just boil a piece of chicken in water, cut it up and add it to cooked rice. You can use the boil in the bag stuff. I guarantee he'll like it. If the diarrhea persists for more than 1-2 days, you will definitely want to take him to the vet. But you should definitely call your vet now to see if they have any other recommendations. Good luck.

Make sure he/she gets lots of water. It's easy to become dehydrated when having diarrhea since there's so much liquid coming out, um, the "other way." Even if you think excess water will make the diarrhea worse, it will actually make it go away faster. Same for people. But other then that, just wait it out. It should go away on it's own in less than 2 days. If not, call or take him/her to the vet. Don't give him/her any medications or anything until you know what's causing it. I saw someone say "dewormer," but you don't want to "deworm" the dog if the dog doesn't have worms.

Don't give your dog any people food, make sure he stays out of the trash (put it where he can't reach it), make sure you don't have any plants poisonous to dogs in your house or yard, THEN feed your dog the rice and chicken or beef diet (NO SPICES OR SEASONING) mentioned by the other respondant, until the diarhea clears up. Once it clears up, slowly reintroduce the dogs regular food back into his diet. If he starts to get diarhea again, he may be allergic to something in his regular food (even if it is an expensive brand). Take him to the vet and follow the vets recommendations. My dog has gotten sick from some of her foods and I have been through this myself. The food I found that really works for her is VIAND and it can be ordered from PHDproducts.com. She loves it and she never gets sick from it.
Good luck!

Make sure he stays out of any non-dog food foods. It's probably something he ate. If it lasts for more than a day - take him to the vet.

You can give him some pepto bismol, it is safe for dogs. If it is a big dog us the regular dose, if it is a small dog use about half. I gave it to my dog before and it helped tremendiously. Good Luck

Try peptobismal (my speling has never been very good) I works great on dogs too. I give my dogs about 3 cc or 3 ml. They are smal shih tzu's so that will give you an idea.

Take your dog to a vet. Diarrhoea can be deadly... not to mention it might be the symptom of something more serious. Best to get it checked out!

If you have recently changed brands of food or they have gotten into cat food or the garbage can..they may be reacting to the change in diet. If this fits the situation...I give them one Immodium AD, it stops the diarrhea and allows their stomach to get back to normal. However if they are listless or vomiting w/diarrhea get 'em to the vet asap.
