You do mean the amount of time it takes for the ceremony to take place, right? If you are married in the JP's office, mere minutes. If the JP is marrying you in an actual formal ceremony it can last as long as you want it to drag out.

The wedding? 20 minutes? We had a big group of people with us, so we had to get everybody settled! The judge was wonderful.

My marriage has lasted 7 years so far.
