The Lady Hope story of Darwin's magical religious transformation is not true. It is an urban legend used by christians as propaganda.

"I was present at his deathbed, Lady Hope was not present during his last illness, or any illness. I believe he never even saw her, but in any case she had no influence over him in any department of thought or belief. He never recanted any of his scientific views, either then or earlier. We think the story of his conversion was fabricated in the U.S.A. ... ...The whole story has no foundation whatever." - Henrietta Litchfield, Darwin's daughter

Do I have to post this every day until you people get it?

By the way - I didn't mean to generalize and say that all christians do this. For those of you with enough sense to take the word of the man's daughter over a bunch of fanatics, sorry, didn't mean to lump you in with the nuts.

Darwin has said from the beginning of his theory....that's why they call it a THEORY....that there is the missing link....he actually said that it is unbelievable unless they can find proof of a transitional species. The only fact about evolution is that the missing link is MISSING!

Um... what was that? j/k

And, yes, you will have to post it everyday, cause some people simply will not believe you and they won't look it up themselves. If they could just get Darwin to recant, then all the science buffs would turn to Christianity... or, at least, this is how they see it. But, I'm not sure how they think that works when others show them contradictions and they turn the blind eye away and keep right on believing in what they want. It's to the point now, for me anyway, that whenever a really religious person tells me something, I want reference where they got the information and I will do some study on my own. Most of what I get from people like that is nothing but propaganda.

The people who have propagated the "Lady Hope story" could be making things up -- but then again, Ms. Litchfield could be making things up too.

Who to believe? We don't really know for sure, do we?

When it comes to this "he said, she said" type of thing, people will tend to believe what they want to believe. They will lean toward the version of events that jives the most with their beliefs and opinions.

Myself, I think it's entirely possible that Darwin stood by his scientific ideas until the very end -- but also had some sort of religious experience just before death as well.

That's because I'm not shallow-minded enough to think that science and religion don't mix. I think that religion and science, at the end of the day, have nothing to fear from each other.

That's because science is not designed to address religious questions, and religion is not designed to address scientific ones. They are two distinct entities that pursue different kinds of truth -- as such, they are entirely compatible.

I don't know anything about this story, Lady Hope, and Christianity...But, It's fairly common knowledge that Darwin's motivation for "Origin of the Species" was to fabricate a system of proof that Black people were not human.
He was a Racist, not an Atheist.
It's very likely that he made a confession of some sort before his death.

I'm a Christian and I don't believe that. I also don't believe in the theory of evolution and not because of religion. Besides, evolution doesn't explain creation.

They keep digging, yet have never been able to prove evolution. As a matter of fact, the more they find evidence that contradicts it.

Now, here's a question for you Darwinists to ponder: If evolution is true, why are their still monkeys? Don't try to rationalize that they are new or different. Monkeys have been around as long as man.

Because it has been proven he denied it.
Plus you expect me to believe Darwin's daughter. How does it look that this man made up an idea that people were starting to believe but denies it at the last second. She is going to be stuck with all the problems.
Anyway, I know the truth and everyone will at some point, even if its at the end

that is a lie propagated by using an extremist American christian said as woman wish who claimed Darwin became to christianity on his lack of existence mattress. there changed into only one really stupid flaw in the declare - he changed into nevertheless very a lot alive! it isn't prevalent even if Darwin changed into non secular because that not some thing is recorded about it except that on the instant he may really a lot actual were raised to christianity. what's properly recorded is that he renounced christianity on the shortcoming of existence of his daughter! those who attempt to declare he switched over to christianity are for this reason in ordinary words repeating lies and making christianity seem finished of liars!

I'm a Catholic Christian and I do not believe that Darwin denied evolution on his death bed and became a Christian. I've read the accounts from Darwin's daughter and she was present at his death and heard no such thing.

It's a rumor that has been around a long time.

But now with email, it gets re-spread continuously. When I receive emails with urban legends, I just delete them unless I know the person who sent it to me. Then I give them a couple of websites to look up the facts.
