There are many differences.

Baptist Churches are detached from each other, each one is different. They are run individually. The people (congregation) vote on everything. They vote in their Pastor, deacons and other positions. If the congregation does not agree with the pastor, they vote him out.

All Baptist churches agree with this document. http://www.sbc.net/bfm/bfm2000.asp
The Baptist Faith and message.

Baptists believe that all believers in Christ should be baptized by emersion (Total covering in water) and it must be done when the person has the ability to understand the basics of Christianity.
They do not baptize babies because they are not able to repent of their sins... and accept Jesus as Savior and Lord.

Baptist's also, by choice, give money to missionaries. We have one of the largest missionary groups...North American Mission Board cooperative program. The 10 Baptist churchs I know of, give 10 percent of the money put into the offering plate to the North American Mission Board.

The giving is not forced, but missions is very important to Baptist's...so many give 10 percent..if not more.

To start with, Roman catholic dogma is not Christian.
There have alway been those who did not accept the domination of the man invented "church" calling it's self catholic. And there still are those who do not accept the RC as the first or the only anything.

Baptist was a name adopted by many different sects/denominations of those who strove to follow the teachings of Jesus The Christ. Unfortunatly tody, like the name christian, baptist has been so diluted and convoluted and mis used as to be meaningless in describing a specific group of believers.

In Truth, there is only One True Church and Jesus The Christ is The Head.

here is a link to a bit more of my pov on who is and who is not, regarding fitting the definition of a Follower of Jesus The Christ.

To elaborate a little more...Catholics believe that when the priest blesses the bread and wine it becomes the true body and blood of Christ, whereas Baptists believe it is simply symbolic.

Baptists base their beliefs solely on the Bible, while Catholics believe that Sacred Scripture (the Bible), Sacred Tradition (2000 years of tradition based on the oral teachings of Christ rather than only written), and Magesterium (church officials and contemporary prophets) all hold equal weight.

Catholics believe that if someone dies with venial sin (minor sin) on their soul and they have not repented, they go to Purgatory where they are purified in preparation for entry into Heaven. Baptists and other Protestants entertain no such notions.

Catholics believe in honoring the Virgin Mary and other saints. A common misconception is that Catholics pray TO these people, whereas they simply ask these people to pray for and with them to God.

Additionally, Catholics believe in confessing sins to a priest, while Baptists confess straight to God.

I could go on for days but I hope you get the picture. Hope this helps.

Baptists believe that one is saved by "praying a little prayer" and "asking Jesus into his heart."

The Bible teaches that one is saved at the point of baptism (1 Peter 3:21), and not by faith only (James 2:24).

Baptists believe in a "once saved, always saved" deal where Catholics believe it is a lifelong process.

There are several differences actually. The Eucharist, The Bible Alone doctrine, Purgatory, Apostolic Authority, Marian doctrines, Confession among others. Plus they don't use the same Bible.

we believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and that he lived a perfect life, died as a sacrifice for our sins, rose again in triumph over death and sin, and sits at the right hand on God in heaven-we don't go in much for "saint him and her" and we believe that, as symbolized by the tearing of the curtain in the temple upon Christ's death, we do no need the intercession of a priest, saint, or anyone else to have a personal relationship with Him.

well, i am a baptist, and i believe that God sent his son to die on the cross for our sins that if we ask forivenss , and do what you must do, you will go to Heaven, but if Jesus isn't your personal savior you will go to Hell. And that if you die and you have sin on your plate and haven't asked forgiveness , you will go to hell. Not once saved always saved.
