I want highlights, but i dont know if i want to spend the extra $ to get them professionally done. Do you think it is possible to do foil highlights to yourself, if not any good at home highlighting kits.

I am not a hairdresser but do my daughters hair. Got all the stuff at Sally's and foiled it. It turned out great, not hard at all. The ladies at those places are real helpfull. First you have to lighten your hair, depends on how dark you are before and how light you want to go.

No, I recommend u spend the money and go to a professional salon. Highlights should always be done by someone who knows what they're doing so they come out looking great. Upkeep is every 3 months, depending on how light you go and how dark your hair is. Consider asking for salon gift certificates for your birthday and holidays if you can't afford it.

I normally don't use foil, there's a paper product that does the same and is cheaper. But Garnier Fructis's Color Breaks are really good, and easy to use.

sun in is the easiest....
I have a lot of experiance with my hair, and I think I do a better job than my hair stylist... I use nutrisse products to color/lighten.... and my hair feels and looks awesome, if I may say so myself, but since its summer, just do "sun in"! save the $$$$
