I am currently on Ortho-Lo... I switched to the low -- because I had some free samples, I didn't have any insurance, and I am not currently sexually active. I am about to get married... and wasn't sure if the "low" is as effective as the regular strength.... I have insurance now... the only reason I haven't switched back is b/c I got migraines when I switched... so I've been putting off switching back...
But I want what is most effective for actual BIRTH CONTROL :)

Any ideas?

I was on Ortho before, but it made me sick so my doctor switched me to Ortho-Lo. I missed a dose (we were on a trip) and got pregnant. After having the baby, I tried to go back to Pills but they made me sick. So my doctor asked me why not try the Nuvaring - it's a vaginal ring that you insert in your vaginal area. It's about 99% effective. You only put it in once a month - leave it on for 3 weeks, take it out on the 4th week where you have your period, then put a new one in after that period week. I tried it and loved it! It was very convenient, very comfortable (you won't feel it inside) and it doesn't interfere with sex. It was so effective and so easy to use - I didn't get pregnant for over 2 years. Now I'm off it because I want to get pregnant again. There's hardly any breakthrough bleeding and I haven't had any problems with it. So I definitely recommend it to anybody.

So that's my experience. Of course every woman is different. Just want to tell you about other options aside from the Pills. =)

Goodluck!

Honestly the best way for birth control is to abstain from sex, however if you are really old enough to be ingaging in sexual activity then I would not even go with a pill I would go with the patches or the nuva ring or even the depo shot because they are all a little more effective and you dont have to remember them as often, also there are alot of women who can not ever use the pill because they get headaches that is why i suggest the other alternatives because they have less side affects.

i've never been on birth control but before i found out that i was pregnant with my daughter i was going to start the nuva ring(but i never got the chance to because my period never came) but i've heard that alot of people like it since it is so convient...you just put it in and leave it for 3 weeks then the 4th week you take it out and thats when you have your period and my GYN told me if its unconfortable during intercourse just to take it out and put it back in once you were finished that it wouldnt mess anything up like if you forget to take the pill
