Some people recommend sprinkling a light dusting of baby powder right at your scalp, then brushing through to absorb oil. I've found that this works as long as I am very careful not to use too much. That way, you won't have to wash your hair every day.

I have very oily hair myself. I've found and what I like personally is using Aussie Shampoo and Conditioner Dual Personality: Root Cleanser + Tip mender. Its in a purple bottle and the conditioner is in a white bottle. It cleans the roots and mends the frazzles! I use it daily and my hair is silky shiny but without the oil! Try that and see how that works. I love it!! It does the trick for me!

If washing it doesn't work, try using one of those facial blotting sheets that remove oil on your face and wipe your hair with it instead. I know it sounds crazy but it works! Start from the roots of your hair to the tips, wiping your hair with it in downward strokes.

Also, it depends on the way you're washing your hair: when using shampoo, don't scrape your scalp with your fingernails because it activates its oil glands. Try massaging gently instead; that way, you properly shampoo your hair! By the way, it's okay to wash your hair everyday without damaging it, but be careful with shampoos that dry out your scalp because the skin there could become flaky!

Find a clarifying shampoo that works well, or use baking soda in the shampoo. Only apply shampoo on the roots, when you rinse it, it'll run down the hair. And only apply conditioner to the tips.
