Afraid to ask, but what does everyone really think about Andrea Yates?

I am so sick of people placing blame on their "problems" for thier actions. She killed her children. She killed them one by one, and even chased one through the house.... She knew what she was doing! Yates deserves to be put to death for her actions. Until we start holding people accountable we are going to continue to have more people like Susan Smith and Andrea Yates in this world.

She was very wrong and deserves to be punished - she should be in either prision or mental institution for life.

But what I don't get is why her husband/the father was never prosecuted for anything?? After all, she supposedly had a history of mental illness, and she had been on medication (which she stopped taking), and had the "baby blues" before. He knew the issues and yet did nothing. He's just as guilty as she is for the death of those poor children, leaving them with some psycho. I mean, if I knowingly left my daughter in the care of a known murder, and she ended up murdered (god forbid), I would be up on charges so fast I would have windburn on my butt. So what was the father's responsibility??

Anyone who kills children should be in the chiar. I dont feel sorry for her. Now it should be her turn to die. I do believe in death penalty. The world is an awful place with child rapes and murders, Yates is a murder! Of her own children. Sick woman she is.

I see everyone saying she needs help because she had postpartum depression. She should have gotten help when she knew something was wrong, not after she murdered her kids!!!! She deserves to fry in the chair. I had PPD after having my youngest child. I went to the doctor and got help because hello, I knew something was going on inside me. A mother knows something is wrong when she is unable to feel for her children. That "thing" knew what she was doing. I also feel that her husband is at fault. He knew not to leave the kids alone with her but chose to anyways. I think he should get child endangerment or even conspiracy.

She's insane. She killed all her kids because she thought that was the only way to save them from the devil (her). She deserves the death penalty. I watched a special on her on E and she had a long history of mental illness and she was advised not to have children.

I think she knew exactly what she was doing and did it out of depression. Her husband (ex) should be in jail right along with her. He knew that she was being pushed over the edge and made sure he took that extra step she needed to fall instead of trying to relieve her burden. He's moved on with his life with no children to worry about any more. How lucky for him.

she needs a lot of mental help and probably meds too. she needs to be in a police monitored mental hospital. for the rest of her natural life. a hysterectomy would be a good idea too so she doesnt get pregnant again

I believe this woman had a terrible case of post partum depression and was very sick, but I also think that now days people know a lot about this disease and she should have expected to get it, cause most mothers do. So I think she has no excuse for killing her children, she should have been more responsible and went to the Dr and got on the right kind of medication for her disease. But regardless, she will go to Hell for what she did.

I think she should be held responsible but i also think she needs help. I also give partial blame to her husband and the family friend that encouraged them to have more kids. She was showing signs of post partum depression early on. They should have taken efforts to prevent it from happening.

Drown the psycho. It's the least she deserves.

God Bless her lost children.
