I don't believe anyone understands the meaning of soul all that well, so how can we say if animals have them or not? We do know that animals can suffer and feel pleasure the same as human beings, and that mammals at least have basically all the same emotions that humans do, they just don't think in words. So we should treat them accordingly.

An easy way to determine if an animal (or any being) has a soul is if genuine emotion is expressed. Only souls have emotion.
In contrast, most insects are soul-less.
Animal spirits have the potential to ascend to a relatively spiritual plane, just as we do, when they leave the flesh.
The Universal Law which governs The Light on the Other Side applies to all, not just to humanoid species.
Don't expect traditional institutions to acknowledge the validity of animals having souls. Know that as a sign that you need to not be a part of such institutions but to seek to become a Light onto Oneself.

EVERYONE has always had soul if anyone does at all!!! Just because some OTHER group did not acknowledge it, doesn't mean it didn't exist. The person in possession of the soul most certainly thought it was there! Anyways, the soul is not what was ignored, civil rights were. Concerning animals: It is my belief that the concept we call a "soul" arises out of our capacity for higher thought processes--therefore animals would not share this characteristic.

Why is heaven limited to only human life? and what is heaven anyway? All life has a soul, and some will tell you only christian souls go to heaven, others will tell you only a certain number of souls who follow their religion will end up there.
All life has energy, energy can neither be created nor destroyed so at death where does that life energy go to, heaven, again we can all have a definition of what heaven is, and on the flip side where does life energy come from at birth, I believe heaven but that is my version of heaven a pooling of all spiritual energy that is infinite, others will tell you God(maybe the same thing but described differently) and if God (I am using the more popular definition) can reclaim that life energy, ergo if God gives life to animals then She also reclaims that life energy at death

Hong Kong Phooey had a lot of soul, remember him? ........Man, I need to know why you think I'm one of these people from the past that didn't consider you human. I not only love your race, but I Love You! Oprah gained victory and there's few humans who've endured as much pain as she has. Give up the past and maybe you'll end up with a talk show and be worth a gazillion dollars, or contuinue the "Poor Me" rhetoric and stay stuck in the mire.

The bible was written for humans not animals. It doesn't mention anything about animals having souls or going to heaven or hell

Animals have just as much soul as humans. Which is to say, none, since there is no such thing. Even if everyone did have a soul, Dick Cheney still wouldn't have one.

If people go by the Bible, never.
Ecclesiastes 3:21 Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward, and the spirit of the beast that goeth downward to the earth?
The Bible has always said that all people have souls (no matter what their ethnicity), and animals (as much as we may love them) don't. That's never going to change.
