Its a play on a line from a poem by Tennyson, which is as follows; "In the spring a young man’s fancy lightly turns to thoughts of love".

Although ive never heard that Grant quote, I imagine he was inferring that a young man NEVER stops thinking about the opposite sex......be it Spring or Winter.

Cary Grant meant that a young man will pursue the girl or girls he's been thinking about all winter. That and all the fun stuff couples can do in spring together.

Sounds like he wanted to plant some corn and can't really until planting season in spring comes to him. Young guys can fancy all kinds of things. But you'd better ask Cary Grant for the real explanation... o.k. ummali03?

I believe that winter has always been considered a time for thinking and reflection.Too cold and snowy outside to do things but lots of time to think about what you will do when the weather allows.Spring is a glorious chace at rebirth. When in the doldrums of winter its hard to see the promise of spring. But spring finally arrives with sunshine, flowers and the reality of funfilled days. What better way to celebrate than sharing it with your girl?

I'm not sure. But I gather that what he had been thinking about during winter slowly starts coming true in the spring like how trees and plants begin to flourish.
